For project on “Nature-3B: Including Nature in decision making of central Banks, investment Benchmarks & Bond issuers”
The Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) has awarded Markus Leippold a grant of CHF 748.125 for his contribution to the European Research Agency’s HORIZON Program “Nature-3B: Including Nature in decision making of central Banks, investment Benchmarks & Bond issuers”.
Project Owner: Markus Leippold
Start date: 1 January 2025
End date: 31 December 2027
Funding Body: Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI), European Research Agency
Approved amount: 748,125 CHF
The main project, NATURE-3B aims to make a significant and real-world contribution by developing (i) Nature-Protecting Benchmarks for investors such as pension funds or insurances akin to EU Paris-Aligned Benchmarks (EU PABs), (ii) a Nature-Protecting Bond framework particularly targeted at municipalities and corporates, and (iii) six tools for central banks, ESAs & NCAs.
Markus Leippold’s research will contribute to Natural Language Processing (NLP) tools for Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFRD) biodiversity impact analysis and Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) scoring.
As the HORIZON Program only grants funding to academic institutions within the EU, researchers from non-EU member states can apply to partake in these prestigious programs, albeit without funding. In Switzerland, SERI grants cover the funding of accepted programs.
