Short biography
Annette is responsible for the for-credit consecutive and executive teaching programs on sustainable finance at the Department, on behalf of the Competence Center for Sustainable Finance and the Executive Education unit. Her research focuses on empirical research on financial inclusion and sustainable banking.
Before returning to academia in 2007, Annette worked nine years as a microfinance specialist in development agencies in Germany and at the United Nations, where she was mainly engaged with partners in Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe. Back in academia, Annette founded the Center for Microfinance at the University of Zurich in 2009, which became a founding partner of the Center for Sustainable Finance and Private Wealth in 2017 and, subsequently, of the overarching Competence Center for Sustainable Finance in 2020.
