Insights from Benjamin Wilding, Managing Director of Executive Education Finance
Dr. Benjamin Wilding, Managing Director of Executive Education Finance and Head of Teaching and Finance at the UZH Department of Finance, reflects on 15 years of the Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in Finance and the evolution of finance-focused executive education at the University of Zurich.
Finance Executive Education
Under his leadership, the Finance Executive Education has grown from a small pilot to a comprehensive continuing education program.
Since its launch in 2010 with just 13 courses and 21 participants, the MAS in Finance now includes around 50 courses and multiple specialized programs, including Sustainable Finance. A key part of this development has been the adoption of blended learning, combining digital and in-person formats to enhance flexibility and practical relevance for professionals.
Linda Betschart from the UZH Executive Education at the Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics interviewed Benjamin Wilding where he emphasized the program’s commitment to practice-oriented academic education that responds to current trends in the financial industry.
He also highlighted how topics such as sustainable finance and FinTech have become central to the curriculum, and how innovative teaching methods (from game-based learning to interactive online elements) enrich the learning experience.
