MA CFA Institute Research Challenge Training and Preparation
Seminar with Industry-Partner
Please note: This seminar will be held in English
This course is a prerequisite for the CFA Institute Research Challenge and equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to be fully prepared for the high-profile, demanding competition in Switzerland, Europe, and worldwide starting in September.
Topics
- Understanding financial reports, in isolation and in relation to each other
- Using Bloomberg to find and to analyze financial data
- Valuing businesses
- Bridging the gap from enterprise value to equity value
- Using valuation multiples
- Writing a professional equity report
- Getting meaningful numbers: willingness to pay and relative cost analysis
Assessment
Students value a mid-sized, industrial Swiss company using the analytical framework developed throughout the course. They write a report and give a presentation which together determines the course grade.
Although you will need to use a spreadsheet, your report should be written in such way that the reader does not have to go through the spreadsheet to understand what you have done.
