Inaugural Lecture by Yucheng Yang

"AI for Economics: Heterogeneous Agent Macro-Finance" on 9 December 2024

Prof. Yucheng Yang earned his PhD from Princeton University in 2023 and holds prior degrees from Peking University and the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He joined University of Zurich in 2023.

On 9 December 2024, Yucheng Yang, Assistant Professor of Finance, delivered his inaugural lecture in the University of Zurich’s auditorium. Professor Alexander Wagner gave the opening speech.

Title: “AI for Economics: Heterogeneous Agent Macro-Finance”

Machine learning-based AI methods have provided unique opportunities for scientific fields facing high-dimensional modeling challenges, including economics. In his inaugural lecture, Prof. Yucheng Yang will discuss how these methods could potentially transform the field of quantitative macroeconomics and finance, sharing his own research on deep learning-based solutions for heterogeneous agent models. He will also discuss the contributions of Zurich-based and Zurich-trained economists advancing this exciting field.
