As of March 1, 2024, our new name is Department of Finance. This name is more consistent with the breadth of research and teaching in our department today.
We began our journey in 1968 as the Swiss Banking Institute. Finance as an academic discipline would become firmly established in Switzerland in the years to come. To reflect this development, we changed our name to Department of Banking and Finance in 2011. And now, with our new and shorter name, we have an umbrella that is wide enough to comfortably fit in all of our department's research areas, centers, and initiatives.
While our name may have changed, our core values, mission and commitment remain the same. With our continued dedication to excellence in research and teaching in finance, we contribute to the creation and dissemination of knowledge that is relevant to business, academia, policy, and the public good.
