The UZH team will represent CFA Society Switzerland at the EMEA sub-regional final in March!
Our University of Zurich team, comprised of Raphael Roggli, Isac Hellsten, William Morskogen, and Marcus Möller, achieved 2nd place in Switzerland at the CFA Investment Challenge and is now qualified for the sub-regional round in March 2024. The team from the University of Zurich was trained and supported by Dr. Christoph Wenk Bernasconi, Dr. Benjamin Wilding, and Johanna Braun.
The CFA Investment Challenge is a global student competition, empowering participants to analyze publicly traded companies. Through the University of Zurich's 6 ECTS course, teams of 3-5 students are given the role of research analysts where they will be assessed on their analytical, valuation, report writing, and presentation abilities.
Since last fall, students have been regularly gathering to study and apply the practices of a financial analyst. This includes various activities like company visits at Geberit in Rapperswil-Jona, collecting data, conducting analysis, and producing informative reports with recommendations to buy, hold, or sell.
This year, once again, they were tasked with integrating sustainability criteria (ESG) into their recommendations. Throughout the autumn semester, professors and seasoned financial analysts and portfolio managers from the CFA Society Switzerland provided support to the students.
